Mail Connector cannot find list of SQL servers

Postby filiplundby on Wed Dec 02, 2009 10:04 am

Hi,

When starting Mail Connector on our server it says: "The list of servers is not available. Please, type in the name of your SQL server". Clicking "OK" and then "Settings" makes the message pop up again without a chance to type in the server name manually.

There is no problem when starting Mail Connector on my locale machine.

How can this be solved?

Regards,
Filip

I remember getting this annoying error and after some research turned out the MDAC components on the system had to be repaired. This happened on a Windows XP machine and may not apply to you but wanted to mention anyway in case it does:

The following procedure may be used to repair MDAC on Windows XP Service Pack 2.

1. Open the folder C:\Windows\inf and locate the file mdac.inf.
Note: The customer's Windows folder could be named differently, i.e. C:\WinXP

2. Right-click the file mdac.inf and click Install.

3. When prompted for a location, point to C:\Windows\servicepackfiles\i386

4. When prompted for the file handler.reg, insert the Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM drive (may also need to point to the i386 folder on the CD to continue. All other files needed for installation can be found in that folder as well).

***This will then reinstall/repair MDAC 2.81 under Windows XP Service Pack 2.
