Ghost machine name

Postby RabidDawg on Thu Jun 30, 2005 9:26 am

I updated the ina32.exe file to 4.5 version, and it is picking up the name of the pc when it was Ghosted and putting that on the adt file, therefore overwriting the files out there. Is there a fix for this? I put the old ina32.exe file out there and it is working now.

The way we get around this is to delete the HIDDEN ina32.ini file from the windows folder.

When the machine restarts it creates a new ina32.ini file with the new machine name.

we have 450 machines all ghosted with a syspreped image and this works fine.

Hope this helps.

I figured I could do that, but also thought that there should be a better way since the old ina32.exe file doesn't pull the computer name from the ghosted ina32.ini file....... is this supposed to be a new 'feature'?
