Postby clefebvre on Wed Jul 09, 2014 11:07 am

Hi everyone,

With Alloy, we recently see a problem with 3 computer. All of them are mixed in the inventory.

The serial number is not with the model.

Could you tell me how Alloy work with the computer ? Where do it takes the computer information ?

How 3 computer mix themself ?

Thank you very much

Unfortunately the question, as it's not very specific will require quite a lengthy explanation, but generally, if it's a Windows machine it pulls the information from WMI.

As for the mixing of 3 computers, that can happen for several reasons, but typically it's due to DNS issues on your network when using the IP Range scan method.

I would verify those machines are returning the correct information when pinging and reverse pinging them. If the names/ip addresses are jumbling in your DNS, the application can get confused.
