Upgrading to ANX5 on a New Server

We have been using Alloy 4.5 for a number of years and recently decided to upgrade to version 5.1, but to use a different server. In the Admin Guide it says that you can convert an existing Alloy database when you upgrade. What isn't clear is whether the upgraded database stays in its existing location or is stored with the new version of the software. We would like to have the old database converted and moved to the new server. Is that in fact what happens?

Thanks for help on this.

I don't know express but if it's like v5 or v6 ent the upgrade works like this:

olddb stored on server1
run upgrade process on olddb
newdb stored on server1

meaning the newdb will remain on the server your olddb was on.

if you want to move newdb to server2 you have to do it after you upgrade or move olddb to server2 and then upgrade.

hope that makes sense and I'm not wrong. dunno if v5 express is different.

It doesn't move the database after upgrade like Elias said. If you want to move it you have to move it after the upgrade.
