Dashboard customization

Postby marilyn on Mon Dec 13, 2010 10:12 am

I love the new Dashboard but would like to customize it a bit.

There are 2 charts - one is the Calls by Type and the other is Active Computers by Type.

The 2nd chart is not that useful to our company - I would rather see the Open Calls by Tech. Another chart that would be helpful would be Open Calls by Category.

Could you give me the SQL that would produce these chart so I could play with them a bit?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Dunno which dashboard you mean but look under the dashboards are in admin settings under general. Open any dashboard and look for entries that say Panel (Chart). Double-click and you'll see the sql used in the chart.

The Dashboard I am talking about is the Default Dashboard. I did find the SQL for the current charts - I want a different chart on there.

You'll have to edit the charts in the default dashboard in admin settings to use a query like this:

Code: Select all
select Top 5
   CASE
   WHEN LEN(Assignee) > 15 THEN LEFT(Assignee, 12)+'...'
   ELSE Assignee
END, count(*)
from Incident_List
Where Status <> 'Resolved' and Status <> 'Closed'
group by Assignee
order by count(*) desc

That will show top 5 assignees. If you show all assignees it might make the chart look bad due to too many columns.
