in version 5, it was possible to edit one of the XML files to insert a hyperlink just to make 1 knowledgebase article sticky or refer to something else from within the service portal as descibed in KB001119

Is something like this possible in the new service webportal?

I'm sure you can do it, but isn't that similar to the announcement feature?

Thank you for the reply.
It is not the announcement that i am interested in.
I am interested in the possibility to add a hyperlink to an external website.
The idea is that someone logs on to the Selfserviceportal. And that he can access our intranet from within the main screen.

This works great in version 5. But i want to do this too in version 6

A little hidden feature in the SSP is that you can modify the Start Page panels. The links won't be present across the entire portal, but...

- On the machine, where Self-Service is installed, navigate to its installation directory
- Go to the Config subfolder
- Open the welcome.cfg file in notepad
- Right after the second starting <Column> tag add the following block of code:

<Panel Caption="My links">
<Html Url="mylinks.html" Height="50px" />

- Close and save the file
- Go back to the top level installation folder
- Create the mulinks.html file to store you links. I've attached an example to this post. You can use a more advanced html code to design the layout of your links.
