I think it would be good to have the ability to manually enter custom fields after an audit is done and for this info the remain until manually deleted. Info such as purchase date is a good example.

Cheers!

With A5 you can make it so that the running of the audit prompts for fields to be filled out. If you want to populate fields after the audit then you can create custom fields in the computer record that can be filled out at any time.

In this specific case A5 already has a purchase date field on the finance tab.

A5?

my Alloy Network Inventory app is only ver. 4.2.0, but it's brand new. When is there an A5?

A5 is Alloy Navigator 5. You can get additional information on it here - http://www.alloy-software.com/a5/index.html

And yes, Alloy Network Inventory 4.2 is the newest version of the Network Inventory product. However it's not as robust as Alloy Navigator 5 which is the newest version of our Alloy Navigator product.

One of the biggest differences is that A5 has a SQL database backend while ANI 4.2 simply pulls information from the .adt files on a share. With A5 you can also purchase additional modules such as knowledge base, service management, inventory, etc

In the end, your environment and needs will dictate which product is good for you.
