Can the navigators determine IE servive pack ?

Postby lcsdsi on Tue Jun 11, 2002 5:39 am

I want to determine wheather the Internet Explorer in the PCs has installed the service packs (particularlly IE 5.5 + sp2). I want to know if it is possible as I cannot find the revalent service pack information in the navigators.

Thank you !

The only way I can think of is to enable detailed scanning of DLL files and allow the Windows directory. The shdcovw.dll file is the file that you can use to determine the version of Internet Explorer. I did this in my test environment by allowing detailed scan of shdocvw.dll and deselecting the option to disable the Windows directory. This provided the file version information that can then be referenced by the Microsoft Technet Article Q164539. The version number for IE55 SP2 is 5.50.4807.2300.
