Scripting the ina32.exe at login

Postby jrobertson on Tue Aug 03, 2004 7:22 am

Hi,
Does anyone know what the VB Script code is so we can script the automatic running of ina32.exe at login?

Cheers

It is probably easier just to use standard DOS scripting as laid out in Getting Started guide. Generally you are just mapping a drive, calling ina32.exe, and deleting the mapping, so VBScript will be overkill unless you have extra stuff you want to do.

This is what I use to run it in vbscript

Set sh = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
sh.run "\\" & ServerName & "dysplatoAlloy$ina32.exe"

Hi,
We eventually found that the best way to do it for us was to run the below script at logon using group policy which puts an entry into the registry for every user to run ina32.exe at login. Then you just need ina32.exe in a shared folder.

Set objShell = Wscript.createobject("wscript.shell")
objshell.regwrite "HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRunAlloy", "k:alloyina32.exe"

The code below will remove the key from users pc's at logon.

Set objShell = Wscript.createobject("wscript.shell")
objshell.regdelete "HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRunAlloy"

The script will run at every login but it will just check to see if there is an entry in the registry and it won't come up with an error if the key is already in.

The code is the brainchild of Mr. Ben Hayler - the almighty administrator.
