is there any way to automate (command line, whatever) an XML export of the data?

Alloy Network Inventory v4.1 Professional Edition is shipped with a standalone command-line utility, which can be implemented as a scheduled task for automated export of audit snapshots in XML format.

Um, how about in version 3? We haven't really upgraded yet...

No XML output command line is available in version 3.

I can't seem to find this command line utility, where is it located? There doesn't seem to be any mention of it in the Getting Started guide. Can this command line utility bet set to load up the audits and prune on a daily basis?

Thanks,

Brian

The XML export standalone app is in the bin folder of your Network Inventory installation. It can certainly be scheduled, but doesn't 'load up' audits or do pruning. Its sole purpose is to convert .adt files into XML format.

I tested out the adt2xml command line feature and get an error. Also, for the help reference, it seems to be the same text for the wr.exe utility rather than for the adt2xml file. screenshots are attached. I also get the same error when I run the wr.exe file.

The issue with outputting 'wr.exe' parameters when adt2xml is called is a known issue, and will be corrected in an upcoming release.

Adt2xml uses the same basic parameters though (/src= and /out=)

This indicates a problem with one of the .adt files. Email support@alloy-software.com with a reference to forum ID 2484 for further assistance.

Fixed in version 4.2?

Postby dsinc on Thu Jul 29, 2004 9:15 am

I am trying to use the adt2xml.exe system call for version 4.1, and i would like to use the switches ( /NO_ENGINES, etc) listed in the help for wr.exe.
Has this been added in version 4.2? And if so, is there a way to upgrade from 4.1Pro to 4.2Pro?
Thanks -
Davy

The /? output for adt2xml is fixed in 4.2. Note that only /SRC and /OUT are valid switches.

Any version 4 user can receive the latest version using the Auto-update wizard.
