Auditing Remote Sites

Postby cocot on Mon Apr 29, 2002 5:31 pm

I\'ve completed taking inventory at our corporate office on about 15 computers. NIN worked great. I want to take inventory of our remote laptop users. Is there a way to e-mail them the INA32 files and have the results sent back to me automatically?

Unforunately, there is no way to do that automatically. At least Network Inventory Navigator does not provide such a feature.

I found a way to do it.

I created a self-extracting zip file with INA32.EXE, INA32.CFG and a BAT file that starts INA32.EXE. I E-mail some basic instruction to the remote user with a link to a web site that starts the EXE file. The user selects Open or Run From Current Location and INA32.EXE performs the audit and saves it in C:AuditData. The user replys to the e-mail and attaches the file in the C:AuditData directory.

It\'s worked well even with technically challenged users.
