What does file scanning is meant for in asset Navigator?

In asset navigator , you cannot view the summary list of all the files (like mp3,mpg,etc.) scanned during file scanning.
According to you, there exists another product named Network Inventory Navigator for this purpose. Then why the option of file scanning is there in Asset Navigator\'s deployment Wizard ? If asset navigator is not supposed to display the file summary information of the scanned files then don\'t you think ,it is useless to provide file scanning facility in Asset Navigator?

Thanx.

Asset Navigator uses file scanning in the Software modules. Both the summary and detailed scan are used in detecting and identifying software product installations. You also use scan information to create product footprints in the Software Recognition module.
