Hardware Template question

I am currently part of a group in my office trying to find a way to make our receiving of new items as streamlined as possible. We are having problems with people using the PO -> Hardware function and we find it vital that they use it because it helps us relate the item to a purchase when performing audits.
With that in mind I have the following question:
Is there a way to create a hardware template that pulls data directly from the PO it is associated with?
For instance let's say I bought 15 Acer V203H Monitors and want to receive them through the PO and create hardware files directly from it. Is there a way I can manipulate the Hardware Template to pull the information from the PO to create the 15 hardware files with fields like Manufacturer, Model, Product already filled from information already entered in the PO?
Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Short answer, no. A template will only populate values into a record you're creating, but it doesn't populate those values from another object. It just populates the values you set in a template.

but! what you can do is define templates in the hardware section for instance. create a template called Acer v203h and then during the receiving process you can select that template. it will automatically populate the fields you mentioned if you configure it to.

in an6 you can do more stuff like pass values from po, but I think this will work for what you

I appreciate you writing your reply again, I know how frustrating it can become to have something almost done and have the browser crash.

I think I may have to resort to creating a massive template section to streamline this issue. The problem is that I wil have to make about 400 templates to satisfy all the stuff we receive. One of our people has be designated as the spreadsheet dumper as he takes excel spreadsheets to update existing products.

Would this work?

Let's say we have the 15 Acer V203H monitors again and I receive them through the PO -> Hardware function using no particular template. The result is 15 blank hardware files to be filled. They all had a unique ID and also have the PO number attached in the finance portion. If I copy and paste this to an excel spreadsheet and have the items filled in through Excel and have him drop it back in using the ID as the unique indentifier that would fix the problem correct?

This seems so tedious, but I am trying to find an resolution to the effort problem of my superiors (I have no equals or subordinates lol).

Oh well.

You mentioned an improvement in AN6, is there anything that can help resolve this issue?

Yeah, it's very flexible. You can easily pass values from PO Items and PO to wherever you want. You just have to put the values somewhere.
