Instead of typing can there be a way to have computer names automatically update in asset manager when computer name is changed?

By default Alloy Navigator 5 always updates a computer name in the database with a new value from the upcoming audit result. This behaviour is configurable via field mapping and you can set common fields to be updates always, never, when it is blank in the database or vice versa. You manage field mapping in your audit profile (Administrative Settings > Network Inventory > Audit Profiles).

I think the above post missed what you meant. You're talking about the 'Name' field and not the 'Computer Name' right? Yeah, that's a bit annoying for me too since the 'Name' field only gets updated the first time, but the 'Computer Name' may change.

I would just create a rule that acts on Before object is saved. Have the criteria check to see if the Name does not equal the Computer Name and then have the action Update Field by copying the Computer Name value to Name field. Simple as that. If you want to update the ones that aren't correctly matched, set the rule to scheduled, run it once and then switch it back to before is saved.
