Managing ISP

Postby mgaliano on Fri Sep 11, 2009 2:42 pm

What is the best method for inputting an ISP? Meaning, if I was going to keep track of how much our ISP connections cost per month, what services we have through them, static IP addresses, etc.... would I need to create some new fields? I don't see a current feature that would adequately handle that.

I would keep things simple. Use Contracts and POs. The contract shows the agreed upons and the PO tracks the costs.

I'll try your recommendation.

Thanks Elias.

I track various services like phone lines and connections as hardware. For example, I have our T1 as category "Phone Lines" - then put the circuit ID in the serial # field (or phone number for analog phone lines, etc).

This way if the line goes down you can relate the line to the ticket to keep a history for that line. I do this for our internet connections (T1 + Cable Internet), phone lines and just about any other type of connection we have. Can't wait for AN6 and it's "system" categorization.
