The upgrade does not carry reports. Creating custom reports in A5 requires you to have a license for Crystal Reports component (Crystal Reports XI Developer Edition). You can obtain a license from the vendor or purchase the license from us. For details on purchasing Crystal Reports component please contact our Sales department at sales@alloy-software.com.

I purchased Crystal Reports XI Developer Edition and created custom reports but when I go to reports and load from file, and click on it and ERROR INVALID INDEX is all I get.

The report is save as .rpt

Also when I right click on the report and select design, I get this error:

Crystal reports Designer is improperl installed or missing.
Please install Crystal Reports Designer in order to access the design features.

I re-installed and I get the same error.

Please Help?

What I am doing wrong?.

Hey Alex,

I believe, and I'm going from memory, that "ERROR INVALID INDEX" is because a report was created using the wrong data souce. I would make sure you configure Crystal based on the following kb article:

Configuring Crystal Reports XI Developer for SQL Databases

In terms of the error "Crystal reports Designer is improperly installed or missing" it appears the error says exactly what it means. It seems it's probably not installed. See the kb article below:

Could not initialize Report Designer
