Published not checked by default

Is there a way to have the "Published" unchecked by default when creating an Activity Item?

Yup, you can set it to whatever you want by default using templates.

In tools.organize templates browse down to service desk.ticket activity and the activity type you're working with. Just open the system (default) template and add published = true.

Now each time you create an activity it will set it published by default.

I do the same thing, but have other activities that turn it off. There's some times when you want to hide activities from requesters because they don't need to know about them. Internal chatter and such.
