Hotfixes and Windows updates showing in software products

Postby Will_Vincent on Wed Dec 12, 2007 4:38 pm

I am new to this program, so please help!

In AN, the software products section of the Software Management section shows all the hotfixes, security updates, and other windows updates. This makes things pretty messy. Is there a way for the program to ignore those types of things.

Also the same question for freeware programs. Is there a generic software license that can be created to account for all freeware utilities?

Thanks in advance for any help!

From the software products section I would use views to hide/show what you want.

For instance, go into software products:
- right-click and go to customize view
- in the fields tab add excluded
- in the advanced filter tab click filter > add condition and set the condition to "Excluded equals False"
- now highlight the software products you want to exclude
- go to Actions > Batch Update (make sure it's Actions at the very top)
- click add and for field select excluded and for value set false
- click start

You've just excluded all of the software products you selected.

Well, not really sure you'd want to have freeware using software licenses. After all do you care to track a license for them? If you just want to see discovered installations for these apps then I'd use discovered installations section or software products to track that.

Keep in mind you can create a view for Freeware if you wanted.
