Redirect a button

Postby byonush on Tue Jul 17, 2007 10:00 am

I am looking to redirect a button that is on the homepage for the KB. I have currently populated a KB called confluence and I want to be able to press the KB button and have it open a page to go to confluence. Can this be done?
Thank You,

Are you saying you created a kb category called confluence? What is confluence?

Confluence is a wiki base KB. I have it running on a internal server in my office. The thing is we do not want to use the KB that is built into Alloy Navigator but would like to have the new KB and Navigator integrated as best as possible.

You can edit the page as it's all in .ASP. For instance, if you were trying to add this to the technician's web portal you'd do the following.

- open the following file - C:\Program Files\Alloy Software\Alloy Navigator 5\WebPortal\pages\start.xml
- find the following section

Code: Select all
    <tr>
     <td>&nbsp;</td>
     <td>
      <a><img></a>
     </td>
     <td><a>[@LOCALE.TICKET_WORK_ORDERS@]</a></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
     <td>[@LOCALE.START_PAGE_TEXT_WORDERS@]</td>
    </tr>

Underneath that add the following:

Code: Select all
    <tr>
     <td>&nbsp;</td>
     <td>
      <a><img></a>
     </td>
     <td><a>Confluence</a></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
     <td>Open the Confluence Knowledge Base</td>
    </tr>

Of course you would change http://www.google.com to your kb address and then change the graphic as desired.

This would be similar if it was for the self service web portal. The difference is that the page you'd edit is under - C:\Program Files\Alloy Software\Alloy Navigator 5\WebSelfService\pages and possibly the place to add it will be different.

Excellent excellent advice thank you. Is this possible to do in the Fat Client? We currently do not really use the web portal even though it is up and running for us.
Thank You very much,

As of version 5.3 there's no way to add a link in the interface somewhere, start page, etc. Of course you can have the link sent out to customers via business logic if that's the intended audience.
