Login Failed for user HHCINC\IUSER_HHCADMIN

Postby ahadden on Thu Jul 08, 2004 9:07 am

Everyone is getting this error when they try to login to our Helpdesk. I added all Domain Users to the permissions so now it logs everyone as guest. What's going on it used to authenticate everyone so they could login as themselves.

For further assistance, please send a screenshot of your User Management screen and a copy of the global.asa to support@alloy-software.com.

The answer I got to this was:

"You should use Impersonation Basic rather than Off in this situation. Make sure to set a valid impersonation user in global.asa, as discussed in the web interface installation guide."

What does "make sure to set a valid impersonation user" mean? Where do I find a web interface installation guide?

The installation guide is a .pdf file found in the doc folder of your web interface installation. You should definitely read it, it is generally not possible to successfully deploy the web interface without doing so.

Still do not understand what I should do?

Here's my Global.asa file. We want it to use Window authentification. It has been working fine as long as I add the users when they start. Now all of the sudden we have been getting this error? What happened? When I switched Impersonation to Basic it would not let anyone login either. So I set it back to "off". But then we are back to every logs in as a guest.

Please read the documentation. Login is expected to fail if you just set impersonation basic without doing other configuration as well, and if you read the installation guide you will then understand why. You should not expect to successfully use the web interface until after you have read the relevant documentation.

IMPERSONATION - BASIC

Postby NDCASSET on Thu Jul 08, 2004 7:40 pm

Create a SQL user called "helpdesk" - make the password "helpdesk". Give this SQL user DB owner rights.

Here is an ie: of a global.ASA
'---------------------------------------------
' Impersonation type valid value "OFF", "BASIC", "INTEGRATED"
'---------------------------------------------
Session("Impersonation")=UCase("BASIC")
'---------------------------------------------
' Authentication type valid value "WINDOWS", "STANDARD"
'---------------------------------------------
Session("Authentication")=UCase("WINDOWS")
'---------------------------------------------
' Impersonation account
'---------------------------------------------
Session("DBLogin")="helpdesk"
Session("DBPassword")="helpdesk"
'---------------------------------------------

The procedure you describe is not mentioned in any documentation we have on file.

Please send a copy of the documentation that you got this procedure from, along with the page number that you got it from, to support@alloy-software.com for further assistance.

The procedure you used was not mentioned in the document you sent, nor is it mentioned anywhere else in our documentation.

The only way to create a valid impersonation user is to go through User Management in AN and create a DB-type Technician user. Generally you should only make changes to the database through Asset Navigator.
