Turn off Knowledgebase for end user

Postby kest on Tue Mar 30, 2004 12:19 pm

Hi,

I just finished the 4.3.1 update and notied that the end users can now see the knowledgebase from the helpdesk web interface. Is there any way to disable this?

I have things in the KB that users should not be able to see.

Thanks!

Version 4.3 gives you a new powerful feature, you can now specify which Knowledge Base article can be seen by Users and which not. You may want to make visible some of the articles with very simple solutions, so User may read it and fix the issue with out involving the Technician. You do not need to do anything to make article visible, all articles are "Public" by default. Besides, some of the articles are definitely for internal use, you will need to open them for edit and uncheck option "Public", these articles will be seen by Technicians with appropriate permissions only.

Thank you! That did the trick.

It would be nice if it was possible to specify an entire catagory as non-public.

We could not do that - we've got multiple requests to let the Asset Navigator administrator set these rules individually.

Would it not then be possible to add the "Public" flag to the catagory name? That would do the same thing?

This is not possible in the current version, we will consider your post as a feature request.

I for one am glad you did this. Don't get discouraged, you can't please all of the people all of the time.
