Allow both AD and non-AD users

Postby richardm on Wed Oct 22, 2003 4:18 pm

Hi all

I have had AN4 HD going since the beta versions, and I want to start by commending Alloy and this app.

I now have a situation I had not originally considered. We have a client company that I want to give access to our Web HD. Previously I had this setup so that it automatically logged people on with their NT logon.

Now I want to have it so that if there is an NT session, then they will be automatically logged on with their NT logon, and if that logon fails then they will be prompted to logon using their account.

How do I set this up?

Thanks

Richard

There is no way to failover from one login type to another.

The best solution would be to install another copy of the web interface on a separate IIS server and configure it for Standard auth. Then give that address out to this client who is outside of the domain, rather than your current web interface.

Excellent Strategy. That is exactly what I will do.

Thanks

Hi There

I cannot seem to make the login work; it keeps failing for all users (including me, although my SQL account on the server is set for Integrated security - IOW I don't have a SQL user account).

Do I need to create a SQL account for the user? (I thought AN did that for me.) Would I be better off to create a single SQL account for all web users from this interface?

Here are the settings in global.asa

Thanks

Sub Session_OnStart
'---------------------------------------------
' Impersonation type valid value "Off", "Basic", "Integrated"
'---------------------------------------------
Session("Impersonation")="Off"

'---------------------------------------------
' Authentication type valid value "Windows", "Standard"
'---------------------------------------------
Session("Authentication")="Standard"

'---------------------------------------------
' Authorization user for WEB only
'---------------------------------------------
Session("DBLogin")="yourlogin"
Session("DBPassword")="yourpassword"
