Subcategory field

Is there a way to add another combo box to be used as subcategory for helpdesk tckets ?

Using only one category is not enough if you want to analyze tickets by the specific reason they were opened about. E.g. , a category for Hardware can have Disk, Motherboard, RAM as subcategories...

There is no way to create custom dropdown fields.

Do you know if by any chance version 4.2 has an additional field for subcategory or something similar ?

No, there will be no 'subcategory' field in 4.2. Version 4.2.1 will allow you to change the name of any field, and thus you could turn one of the existing fields into a 'subcategory' field.
