Project Tracking

Postby Bret on Mon Feb 26, 2007 6:10 pm

I use the Project section a lot and would like to see a few enhancements:
1. I'd like a status option so if a project is complete I can close it. I also want to be able to filter it so I can see just the open projects. Right now I have a page full of old projects.
2. I'd like a summary page for the project that would show total manhours (collected from tickets) and total materials costs (collected from POs).
3. I'd like to have a report summarizing a project, and a report that gives totals spent on projects for a certain time period.

#1 and #2 are already a feature request in our system so we've simply noted your request for it to show the need and #3 already exists on the support portal.

You can download that report from here: http://support.alloy-software.com/?mode ... d=KB000601

I downloaded and installed the Project report, but it's only for time, it doesn't show money spent on materials. Also, the report is confusing. I selected a project that had one incident with 1 hour and 58 minutes logged in 12 tickets. The report shows on page 1 a pie chart that is a solid color with the number 12 next to it and a box with the number 12 and "100%" next to it. What does that mean? Page 2 has the same graph but with a section under it showing the ticket number, the Summary and Time Spent as 3.00. I don't know where it got 3 minutes? Under that it shows Total time spent on project as 118.00. This is correct, but I'd rather see it in hours and minutes rather than having to do the math to figure this out. Page 3 says Time Spent by Project Related Tickets report ontinued......<project name>......2007 at the top. The rest of the page is blank.
Also, I get two different screens when I run the report from the server versus running it from my PC. I've attached some screen shots.

Agree

I totally agree with the requests above. Feel that the project module is not to usable as it is working today. Regards to the report, it is useless. In fact, several reports calculate values in a strange way, and they do not specify what units the number represents.

best regards kay

A substantial portion of our products are based on customer feedback so we appreciate it. That report can be evaluated.

At the same time, if you have specific information about issues such as "several reports calculate values in a strange way" feel free to contact us directly with feedback. That's the best way to ensure it's addressed.
