Ticket Templates

Postby pwpaton on Fri May 07, 2004 1:01 am

Hello,
A useful feature that we've seen in other solutions are ticket templates, sometimes called quick tickets. Basically, they're a method of easily (quickly) creating new tickets based on a previous similar ticket. A scenario where this would come in handy is the example of a new hire where there are multiple steps with activies assigned to various techinicians. The process is the same every time, so using a template would save alot of time when creating the ticket. Even the ability to copy an existing ticket to a new one would be a benefit. Any chance of something along these lines coming out in a future release?
By the way, after looking a many solutions, we've picked Asset Navigator to replace our current helpdesk application. Great product!
Thanks, Patrick

Thank you for submitting your inquiry. We are really appreciate your participation and we will do our best to make Asset Navigator user-friendly and helpful software for everyone. 'Copying Tickets' is already implemented in current version, you can find that option ( 'Copy Item' ) under main Tool Bar > Actions. We are also planning to incorporate a new feature 'Ticket Templates' in one of the next major releases.

I finally got an opportunity to try this and discovered that it doesn't appear to copy the activities. This would be desirable, , for example, in the case of a ticket used when an employee is terminated and several people are involved with the termination process. As you state elsewhere in the forums, activities are like subtickets and it would be benificial to have them copied along with the rest of the ticket so that each person's tasks are created. Once they perform their part, they close the activity and the last person closes the entire ticket. We have the same situation when an employee is hired. Someone sets up the network security, another installs the computer and telephones at the desk, someone else needs to do orientation, process HR/Payroll paperwork, etc. There's alot of people involved.
