Automatic Due Date Calculation

Postby pwpaton on Fri May 07, 2004 12:50 am

Hello,
Would it be possible to have a ticket's due date calculated based on the priority? For example, a low priority ticket might have a due date of 48 hours from the submit date, whereas an urgent ticket might be 2 hours. Of course, you would want the ability to override the calculated date if necessary.
Thanks, Patrick

There are no defined plans for including this feature, we will consider your message as a feature request, thank you!

This is the one biggest omission I have seen since migrating from Track-It. There should be rules for minimum responses times for each priority and these would be the basis for auto due date calcualtion if the submitter leaves the due date blank. But the user could not enter a due date sooner than the minimum for that priority.

To take this a step further, it would make sense to include the Category in the Due Date calculation. For example, a Problem Request with a Medium priority may need to be completed much sooner than a Project Request with the same priority. By definition, Projects are expected to take longer than Problem resolutions, even though the priorities are the same.
I hope other users also feel this is a useful request and let the support team know.
Thanks, Patrick

Yes, this would be a valuable addition to the helpdesk module.

This really is a feature we require, and maybe the one area that lets the product down as it is.

I have to agree, this would be an excellent feature that would save time for many of us working in busy IT departments. Please give it serious consideration for your next release.

Many thanks!
